The PPH Project is dedicated to tackling the global issue of postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity.
During the inaugural PPH School held on 29 May 2026, PPH Foundation sensitized medics on the critical role that blood availability plays in preventing maternal deaths associated with postpartum haemorrhage. Led by Prof Julius Ogeng’o, the session highlighted the challenges many health facilities face in accessing adequate blood and blood products during obstetric emergencies. Participants were encouraged to become champions of voluntary blood donation within their universities, communities, and professional networks. The discussion emphasized that strengthening blood donation awareness and supporting initiatives such as the Roaming Blood Initiative are essential steps towards improving emergency response systems, ensuring timely access to lifesaving blood products, and reducing preventable maternal deaths.
